Frequently asked questions.

What can I expect from My 15 Minute coNSULTATION call?

The purpose of this 15 minute consultation call is to assess goodness-of-fit. This is your chance to let me know what brings you to therapy, to ask me questions about my therapeutic approach, and explore what you can anticipate regarding fees, scheduling, and more. We get to collaboratively decide if I can meet your needs, or explore other options if we find we wouldn’t be a great fit.

What Types of services Are Offered?

At this time, at Zoom Out Therapy, LLC (ZOT, LLC), I offer individual therapy, group therapy, and consultation services. In the future, I hope to offer couple’s therapy and supervision. My areas of speciality include Black mental health, racial identity and racial trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), emotional regulation, identity development, and interpersonal effectiveness (i.e., relationships). All of my services are trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, decolonized, and liberating at their core.

wHAT ARE THE PRICES FOR SERVICES? Do you take insurance?

For cash pay clients, my rates are as follow:

Intake Session - $275

Individual Sessions - $250

Group - $60 to $75 per member

Consultation - $500 per hour

Regarding insurance, I currently accept:

AETNA (MA & RI)

Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS; MA only)

I am pending in-network relationships with:

Optum/UnitedHealthcare (MA)

Disclaimer: the paneling process can take 3 to 6 months. Please keep an eye out in the “In Other News” section of the website for an announcement for when I am fully accepting these insurances! For individuals who would like to use insurance I do not currently accept, I do accept “Out-of-network” insurance plans.

Of note: Fees and insurances accepted are subject to change, with ample notice provided before changes are implemented.

What is “Out-of-Network?”

If I do not currently accept your insurance, utilizing your “Out-of-network” coverage is an alternative. To do this, I would provide you with a “Superbill” (a detailed receipt of services) at the end of each month for you to forward to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

What are your hours of operation?

ZOT, LLC’S hours of operation are Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm (EST). These are the hours during which you can expect a response from me should you reach out outside of therapy sessions or consultation.

Individual sessions take place from Monday to Thursday (except Wednesdays) between 10am and 4pm (EST), with the final session being offered at 3pm (EST). Groups often occur outside of the hours denoted above (e.g., in the evenings), and consultation service days and hours are flexible depending on the scope of the project.

How long is each individual session? Group Session?

Individual sessions last 50 minutes.

Group sessions run between 60mins and 75mins.

Do we have to meet weekly?

Ideally, each therapeutic relationship will start off as weekly, as we get to know each other and assess the frequency that best meets your needs. I currently offer weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly sessions. Typically, as clients advance in their healing journey, the frequency of therapy tends to shift in tandem (i.e., moving from weekly to bi-weekly to monthly).

What is your late/cancellation policy?

13+ minutes late -$50 (in addition to cost you would typically pay for your session)

20 minutes late - Session is cancelled, full fee is charged

Cancellation within 24hrs of session - full fee is charged (unless session is rescheduled within the same week)

“No Shows” - full fee is charged (no option to reschedule within the same week unless circumstances are extenuating)

Do you Offer any In-Person Sessions?

ZOT, LLC is a primarily telehealth therapeutic service provider. I provide individual and group therapy virtually via a secure and HIPAA-compliant site. Consultation services, however, are provided either virtually or in-person depending on scope, feasibility and appropriateness.

Is there a wait list when your practice is full?

I keep a running wait list for folx who inquire about services after my caseload is full. I reach out to people in the order in which they fall on the waitlist (i.e., if you are at the top of the wait list, I will prioritize contacting you first). If being on the waitlist does not interest you, I can make an effort to refer you to another provider or practice, though I cannot guarantee their availability.

I don’t live in Massachusetts or Rhode Island, Can we still work together?

Unfortunately, at this time I am only licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Rhode Island. This essentially means your physical body must be in the state of Massachusetts or Rhode Island in order for me to be able to provide you with individual therapy. The only exception to this is support groups, which folx nationwide are able to attend. Structured groups (e.g., Dialectical Behavioral Therapy groups) abide by the same rules as individual therapy sessions.

Do you prescribe medication?

I do not prescribe psychotropic medication, but I am able to refer you to providers who do, should I assess that medication management would be beneficial to your care.
